About Us
Here at Dance Steps Academy we pride ourselves on being a professional and personal school of performing arts. We offer the best training possible for our students, whether that be a wish to pursue a serious path in this career be it performing or teaching, or simply just to attend classes to have fun, gain confidence and meet new friends.
Performing Arts plays such a vital role in our society and is fundamental for an increased sense of well being. Every student at DSA is valued, nurtured and mentored in the best way possible. We are constantly exploring new ways to innovate our teaching approach so we can offer the best that we can for every student. We have one of the best teaching faculties in the area, all of whom continue to under go various CPD and continued training.
We firmly believe that every child should have the same opportunity to explore the world of the arts which is why we keep our prices competitive, offer discounted/reduced class rates for our secondary Ballet lessons and Conditioning as well as awarding class scholarships to numerous students to help them access more subjects.
We like to think that we are more than just a performing arts school here at DSA. Our school is a community, it is a home, and it is a family. And we welcome you all to join us.
My daughter has absolutely thrived at Dance Steps Academy. From her very first lesson, we were impressed by the passion, professionalism, and genuine care the instructors show for each student. The teachers are not only creative and dedicated, but also incredibly accommodating — always going the extra mile to ensure that every child is set up for success. Their encouragement and thoughtful guidance have helped my daughter grow in confidence, technique, and self-expression.
What truly sets this school apart is the way the instructors offer extra care and empathy, especially during important moments like show performances, accommodating class schedules. They understand each child’s unique needs and work with them patiently, often exceeding what we as parents imagined possible. The nurturing and uplifting environment makes every class a joy, and we feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a warm and inspiring dance family."

“If you’re looking for a dance school for your children, I can wholeheartedly recommend Dance Steps Academy. My eldest started there when she was just 3. She’s now 8 and attends a wide variety of dance classes all of which she loves. My 2 younger daughters (6 & 4) are following in her footsteps and they all have such a love of dance. It’s a wonderfully supportive school, where the teachers nurture and showcase all ages and abilities. It’s been wonderful to watch my daughters shine, see their confidence grow and their love of dance flourish.”

“Our daughter has been dancing at Dance Steps Academy from the very beginning and it has brought so much joy watching her evolve from a tot to performing in the many magical shows the hardworking DSA team produce. Starting vocal lessons in the last year, her progression under the excellent tutelage of Jo d’Unienville has been dramatic. We cannot thank Jo and her excellent team at DSA enough for the skill, passion and commitment shown throughout her singing, dancing and acting journey.”

“We first came to DSA after Leah had tried another place that didn’t quite click for her. We decided to give it one more go and trialled two classes — and she was instantly hooked! Since then, she has joined many more classes and loves each and every one of them. Over the years, Leah has performed on stage, grown enormously in confidence, and truly flourished.
What makes DSA so special is not just the excellent teaching — the proper technique, discipline, rhythm, and artistry — but the genuine love for performing arts and music they instil in every student. Jo and the rest of the teaching team are caring, encouraging, and create a unique sense of camaraderie and friendship. We’ve been so impressed that we even signed up her little brother for musical theatre, and he’s loving it too. We couldn’t be happier to be part of this wonderful community.”
